JCI Sydney invites you to our annual White Ribbon event: A creative fund- and awareness-raiser at Cork & Canvas – Sydney.

 

Why join?

 

Violence against women and girls is one of the most widespread, persistent and devastating human rights violations in our world today.

 

Gender inequality persists worldwide. Achieving gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls will require more vigorous efforts to counter deeply rooted gender-based discrimination that often results from patriarchal attitudes and related social norms.

 

FACTS: Globally, 19% of women between 15 and 49 years of age have experienced physical and/or sexual violence by an intimate partner in the past 12 months. In the most extreme cases, such violence can lead to death. Moreover, only just over half (52%) of women between 15 and 49 years of age who are married or in a relationship make their own decisions about consensual sexual relations and use of contraceptives and health services.

 

One of the major challenges to efforts to prevent and end violence against women and girls worldwide is the substantial funding shortfall. To make a difference in the local community, JCI Sydney, in partnership with White Ribbon Australia and Women’s Shelters, is hosting a fundraiser event around White Ribbon Day 2018.

 

JCI Sydney invites you to join us at Cork & Canvas – SYDNEY (106 Oxford Street) on the 25th of November from 6.15pm. The program will be as follow:

 

-        Networking, wine tasting (continue throughout the night)

-        Welcome and presentation of cause/White Ribbon

-        Painting

-        Raffle, auction of painting and closing remark.
