About the program
The 12 Weeks to Publication program gives Academic staff and HDR students practical experience with the writing and publishing process, and is adapted from Wendy Laura Belcher’s best-selling Writing Your Journal Article in Twelve Weeks: A Guide to Academic Publishing Success.

The goal of the program is to take your manuscript from draft to final, and, in the process, assist you in overcoming unease about academic publishing. In a supportive environment you will revise a draft manuscript, conference paper, or thesis or dissertation chapter into a peer-reviewed article and submit it for publication. The program explains the publication process over 12 weeks and shares strategies for achieving success in the academic writing arena.

Who should participate?
The program is inclusive and open to all Early to Mid-career Researchers and HDR Students. It is a great opportunity to enhance your writing ability, efficiency and learn about publishing requirements in high-ranking journals. Participants should have a draft manuscript to commit to working on throughout the program, and should aim to submit this to a journal by the end of the 12 weeks. Participants will also have the opportunity to establish collaborative, interdisciplinary networks.

Expectations
The program’s success depends on the commitment of members to engage and make the time to write their own paper and attend all 12 face-to-face sessions. Sessions will run for 2 hours per week on a Tuesday, as per the dates and times provided on the session calendar below.
Please note that approximately 6 - 9 hours of work (including reading the chapters, exercises and working on your manuscript) outside of the face-to-face sessions is required to achieve your desired outcome from the program.
