Saturday October 27th 2018 Around the Campfire Inc will hold the inaugural annual Around the Campfire Cup at the amazing new Claremont Oval precinct in Claremont, WA in front of approximately 1500 people.  The women's AFL event will feature 2 games; a youth girls game followed by the WA Aboriginal All Stars v WA All Stars game. 

 

​​The day will be hosted by joint Master of Ceremonies, AFLW ambassador and Marngrook host Shelley Ware, Noongar woman Jaynaya Winmar, and local WA woman Kim Shenfield. There will also be a DJ playing tunes all day during breaks in the football. 

 

Welcome to Country and smoking ceremony will take place at 12.30pm prior to the first game and be performed by Boorloo Cultural Experience, with a special dance performance taking place prior to the senior game at 2.30pm. Being led by Noongar Custodian Olman Walley the aim is to educate and inspire non-Indigenous people playing or spectating, reconnect and show respect to Indigenous people present. 

  

Claremont FC will have food and beverage available during the event. 

 

The 2018 Perth Around the Campfire Cup is proudly supported by Indigenous National Technology and Telecom Network, Cockburn Cement, WA Football Commission, Kurtarra and Cape Joint Venture, Claremont Football Club, Iron Pharmacy Group, and Evans and Sons.

 

Please come along and celebrate a wonderful day of culture, sport, music, and friendship. 100% of the money raised from the day will be used to establish Around the Campfire Inc's first university health scholarship for a remote Indigenous student from remote WA.
