Event description

Calling all incredible humans,

You're invited to attend this ecosystem mixer and celebrate all things startup, diversity & humanity.

Here you'll learn new things and be inspired by makers, doers & creators - thirsty to connect with like-minded people and create a force for change.

We're "mixing" things up (pardon the pun) and rolling from a pitch-night into a film screening, to give you a taste of the many shades of startup conversations that exist in today's world!

Also, you're heading to _southstart [conference], then skip the cue & come and pick up your conference badge.

There'll be food, drinks & good people in abundance!

LOSING LENA FILM SCREENING

From Australian Production company Finch, in partnership with Code Like a Girl, Facebook, Clemenger BBDO and Kamber,  comes " Losing Lena

- a compelling short film which examines the past, present and potential future of the tech industry, and how computer science is becoming a fundamental skill for the future (like numeracy and literacy).

Losing Lena speaks to the psychology of gender, social conditioning through media images, and how girls have been pushed away from intellectual pursuits from young ages.

Following this exclusive premiere screening, Code Like a Girl will present a panel of women working in the tech industry in South Australia, discussing the issues raised in the film, such as: the history of women's roles in computer science, how the tech industry has become so homogenised,  the hot topic issue of 'diversity in tech' (and what that really means), and the implications of the question "how can get more women working on our tech teams?"
