Event description

ATTEMPTS ON HER LIFE

Written by Martin Crimp
Directed by Bob Pavlich
With original songs by Sarah Wall

Annie is a right-wing terrorist and a victim of a violent crime. Anne is a suicidal artist and a pornographic star. Ann is a bicycling gardener donned in a woolly hat and a glamorous, blonde actress in a tasteful movie. Anny is a sleek new car. Martin Crimp’s Attempts on Her Life attempts to capture the essence of a person, the essence of Anne. With no narrative, no structure, no stage directions, and no characters, Attempts on Her Life, like its protagonist, resists definition.

Performed many times in many different ways, our approach is to set the play within the exposed framework of a theatre thus highlighting the simplicity and emotional rawness of the text.
