You walk into a desert. You see a woman, standing by a lake, you ask her why she’s here. She becomes a thousand pieces of sand and blows away. You open a door. Behind the door is another desert. Different coloured sand. The end of the world is coming, you can smell it in the rain.
Burn, but don't cry is a show built around the bodies of its performers and the structure of a sonnet. It is a radical re-imagination of who Petrarch could have been, and who they fell in love with. It is an ode to poetry, romance, and the idea of love. But it is also a play about waiting at a bus stop. About eating breakfast alone.
