About the artists

Australian singer-songwriter ARCHIE ROACH emerged in the early '90s. His ARIA-winning debut album, Charcoal Lane, was named one of Rolling Stone Magazine's Top 50 albums of 1992. It centred around Archie’s heartbreaking song, "Took the Children Away”.

The song was a deeply affecting ballad about his own experience as one of the "Stolen Generations" of First Nations children who were often forcibly removed from their parents and communities and placed in non-indigenous institutions and homes.

Archie’s career has spanned three decades. His work has been recognised locally and internationally. He has shared the stage with some of the world’s most iconic artists, including the late Leonard Cohen, Rodriguez, Bob Dylan, Tracy Chapman, Billy Bragg, Paul Simon, Joan Armatrading, Suzanne Vega and Patti Smith.

Archie will be performing songs from his new 3 CD box set of recent live shows, Into the Bloodstream 2012; Let Love Rule 2016 and Dancing With My Spirit 2018, marking the first time Archie has released recordings of his live concerts.

His music speaks the stories of his people, of this land and of the human condition. His voice - uniquely Australian and undeniably universal - continues to resonate for us all.

From hip-hop roots to soulful social statement, Radical Son’s debut album Cause & Affect is both potent and sublime. It conjures uncompromising visions and merciless lyrics of where we’ve come from and what could be.

relate to, yet would never choose to go through, Radical Son re-emerges as Australia’s own big black soul man with a capital M.

Cause & Affect will take the listener on a sonic journey of contemplation providing thought-provoking content and insightful message. It’s reggae-esque, dub, soul and classic R’n’B influences and all round great grooves will appeal to those with a penchant for the likes of Fat Freddy's Drop, Amy Winehouse and dare we say it, Messrs Gaye and White.

Since the album’s release, the band have enjoyed high rotation on Australian national broadcast radio ABC Triple J and Double J; have featured regularly on National Indigenous TV (NITV); headlined a sold-out show in Melbourne as part of the Australasian Worldwide Music Festival (AWME); performed at festivals such as the Brunswick Music Festival, Moomba, Contemporary Pacific Arts Festival, Sydney Festival, NAIDOC Week, Spirit Festival, Rivers to Recognition festival, as well as tours with the legendary Archie Roach.

In 2015, the band were nominated for both Best Music Video (Human Behaviour) and Best Cover Art (Cause ‘N Affect) at the National Indigenous Music Awards, for which they won the award for best cover art.

SALLY DASTEY In 2002 Sally Dastey released her first solo album Secrets To Keep after ten years as part of the highly successful and critically acclaimed Tiddas.

Since Secrets To Keep Sally has continued touring, supporting the likes of Eddie Reader (Scotland) & Boo Hewerdine (English) as well as local favourites such as Nick Barker, Sal Kimber & The Rolling Wheel, and The Rosie Burgess Trio.

Sally’s second album Half A Wish, Half A Moon did not disappoint with a mix of new original material and the inclusion of the traditional Scottish folk song Wild Mountain Thyme.

Sally and her band The Sweet Sceptics produce shows that are uplifting, thoughtful and an absolute joy to be a part of. In the company of Mark (Squeezebox Wally) Wallace on Accordeon, Matt Earl on drums and Rory Boast on bass, she continues to write and record new material and tour festivals around Australia.

December 2010 saw the release of her long-awaited children’s CD ‘Goodness!’ which was greeted with enthusiasm and excitement. She has a new album in the works, with plans for release later in the year, and continues to make her mark as one of the country’s finest female vocalists.
