Event description

British comedian Ashley Blaker is coming to Perth for one show only! An Orthodox Jewish performer with an unorthodox outlook on everyday life, Blaker will perform in Australia for the first time in March this year, following sell-out tours across the UK and at the 2018 Edinburgh Fringe Festival, as well as successful appearances in the USA, Israel, South Africa and Canada.

A comedy lover and performer since his school days at Haberdashers' Aske (where fellow alumni include good friend Matt Lucas, as well as Sacha Baron-Cohen & David Baddiel), Blaker became an observant Jew in his 20s.

As well as a stand-up, Blaker is an award-winning comedy producer and writer, despite the fact he doesn't own a TV at home. His credits include international phenomenon Little Britain, which he worked on with Lucas and he now runs his own production company Black Hat.

Ashley brings a unique perspective and humour to his observations and critiques of secular and Jewish life, appealing to both audiences alike.

What the critics say:

  • A slickly funny stand-up show. A skilled joke-teller. He is proof that even the most reverent enjoy a little irreverence. New York Times, Review of Strictly Unorthodox
  • Imagine John Oliver in a yarmulke. New York Post
  • A special vein of comic material. ★★★★ Financial Times, Review of BBC Radio 4 show
