Event description

Living labs put people at the centre of innovation.

Researchers, government and businesses benefit from co-creation with the communities where people work, live and play. That’s how living labs make a real and sustainable impact.

Join us at the Human Heart of Innovation conference to hear from some of the world’s leading practitioners and champions of open co-creation in Adelaide, a city ‘designed for life’.

Across two days this November, the Australian Living Labs Innovation Network (ALLIN) invite you to join some of the world’s leading practitioners and champions for open co-creation. ALLIN is Australia’s lead agency for living labs and network partner with the European Network of Living Labs (some 190 labs in all), the hub connecting a global network across the EU, the Americas, eastern Asia and Africa.

Wednesday 13 November
Day one: Explore - Smart cities and wellbeing

Hosted by the University of Adelaide

How do the world's challenges with ageing and disability, mental illness, poverty and homelessness prompt responsive design and better policy frameworks for our communities and from our public institutions? The challenges are ever present and the opportunities for radical transformation have never been more exciting.

How does the internet of things, big data and AI support humanity in a world of smart cities? The urban capitals that will soon be home to four in every five of us are being radically redesigned to be sustainable, better connected, more efficient and digitally integrated. Throughout the day, we'll explore space, integrated design, the circular economy, innovation 4.0 and the UN's Global Goals.

Day two: Create - Living lab development and research

This day brings the living lab research community together across multiple themes for the first time in Australia. We’ll explore the outcomes of Living Lab research in Australia and globally, introduce tools, methods and approaches for building a Living Lab and the world’s best co-creation methodologies, community building frameworks and case studies.

An opportunity exists for those from the living lab community to both develop your lab or share with delegates and practitioners just how your lab has developed to date.

Book now to learn, explore, network with us at #ALLIN2019.
