Event description

Beecroft House is an innovative new project that will provide safe and secure housing to women over 55, for up to two years, with support to identify permanent housing solutions.

We are seeking our community's assistance to guarantee the completion of renovation so that our first residents can move in before the end of August.

We invite community groups and clubs to join our Beecroft House Community Cheer Squad ($250/pa) and sponsor one of the 8 community rooms on the property.  You will have the opportunity to provide a name for your sponsored room.  All Cheer Squad members will be included on the "Beecroft House Backer's Board" which will be hung in the general community space.

These 8 community rooms will be used by organisations providing housing and support services to the residents of Beecroft House.

The opportunity to book one of these rooms for a meeting will become available in early 2020 and there will be no charge to Cheer Squad members for the use of a room.

Donations are tax deductible.

About Beecroft House

In May 2018, WCS were approach by Twilight Aged Care with an offer to use their vacant Aged Care Facility, located in Beecroft, rent-free for two years as transitional housing for women over 55.

Following the approach, WCS undertook a full analysis of the project to assess its viability, including exploring partnership and funding options and identified a service model that would include transitional housing for up to 20 women aged over 55 years, including six to eight women exiting WCS shelters and 12 to 14 women drawn from the NSW Social Housing Waitlist.Early consultation with Hornsby Council indicated the site was originally approved as a hostel for older persons and hence the proposed service model would require no ‘change of use’ as the existing consents were applicable.

Negotiations with the Twilight Board and a thorough assessment of site compliance was then conducted and a two year lease agreement finalised. The project is a unique collaboration between Women’s Community Shelters (WCS), Link Housing, National Projects and Maintenance, The Generous and the Grateful and has been made possible with the support of Twilight Aged Care, the property owners.
