Event description

A webinar for leaders and those develop other leaders

New possibilities for leaders

People can continue to develop through adulthood. We know this through evidence of neuroplasticity, documented differences in stages of adult development, and the measured transformative effect of deliberate practice.

These facts illuminate new possibilities for leaders to measures and deliberately develop greater cognitive, emotional, social and other forms of intelligence. Investment in development can enhance our capabilities: to manage increasing complexity, act strategically, adapt to rapidly-changing organisational contexts, or work effectively with people from different: cultures, motivations or meaning-making, which we call “action logics”.

A developmental framework and practices

The renowned HBR article, ‘The Seven Transformations of Leadership' speaks to this, advocating for leaders to deliberately develop our meaning making capacities. Assessments and frameworks such as Harthill’s can assist with the assessing, situating, and developing leadership capabilities.

Most leaders, however, are not conscious of their Action Logic and thus are ‘blind’ to it. They are unaware they can transform beyond the limits of their current ways of thinking and acting, or lack specific guidance on what could be empowering in their particular context.

This webinar will introduce the Harthill Leadership Development Framework which can assess the diversity and dominance of different leadership “action logics” in individuals. The LDF is an assessment instrument that has supported the development of more than 10,000 (mostly senior) leaders for two decades.

This Framework, webinar and approach are highly relevant for:

  • Organisational development and HR professionals,
  • Coaches and mentors working with teams, organisations and individuals,
  • Facilitators of developmental programs: leadership, accelerators or social change.

A webinar with Prof Stephen Duns (The Leadership Centre) and Andrew Outhwaite (We Are Arising)

In this session we will:

  • Provide an overview Leadership Development Framework
  • Share cases of the insights generated through developmental assessment and inquiry practices,
  • Preview opportunities to be profiled, debriefed, and authorised to use the Leadership Development Framework,
  • Invite participation in a three-day training programme from 10th to 12th March 2020 in Melbourne,
  • Answer questions about all and any aspects!

Andrew Outhwaite

Andrew has fifteen years of professional experience contributing to the development and growth of social innovations. Inquiring into, and acting to empower, the developmental trajectory of the innovations and humans leading them has been a fundamental practice throughout this time.

Ventures he has co-founded or lead have addressed homelessness (e.g. Spark Challenge), science and sustainability (e.g. Hallbarhet, The Natural Step Australia, Goodness Festival), healthy regional communities (e.g. Pollinators Inc, Meshpoints), cultural transformation (e.g. Coaching for Sustainability) and innovation (e.g. StartupWA, State Innovation Strategy).

Andrew currently contributes to international, intentional communities of practice (e.g. For Blue, Cheng Hsin, and Apithology) for which effective developmental inquiry is a necessary ability.
