Birdsong & Music at Union Hall
Event description
Cutting edge classical and jazz meet to explore the natural world at Adelaide’s stunning Union Hall this October.
Inspired by leading ornithologist Tim Low’s award-winning book, in their performance piece ‘Where Song Began’ Simone Slattery (violin) and Anthony Albrecht (cello) explore the Australian origins of songbirds, ‘the birds that can sing’. Audiences are encouraged to contemplate the origin of birdsong and the importance of Australia's rich and colourful bird history. The program includes music spanning 300 years, enhanced by a film of evocative visual projections and an immersive soundscape.
Described as "a delicate fusion of ambient electronic textures, live instrumentation and field recordings.", Albrecht La'Brooy's Alex Albrecht - Melquíades reinterprets sounds of the Australian bush in an improvised piano performance piece never to be repeated.
