Event description

Our Purpose:

Circles for the Sensitive aims to give us sensitive folk a local place to gather in circle to share our experiences, learn about our unique gifts and recharge our energy so we can use our extraordinary sensitivity to make a difference in the world, which is what many of us yearn for. It is envisioned that we will co-create a community of empowered sensitive folk who gather locally in circles.

Empaths:

Many sensitive people are empaths. Empaths are people who are highly sensitive to the emotions of those around them. We don’t just recognise others’ emotions; we can tune into the experience of others intuitively and feel other’s emotions in our own bodies. Being an empath is a psychic gift that many intuitive and gifted people have, often without even knowing it!

To find out if you are an empath, simply complete Dr. Judith Orloff’s quiz. If you are an empath in the local area, come join our movement which aims to develop empowered empaths.  An empowered empath is one that utilises their gifts to fulfill their purpose. It’s not easy to do this by yourself as being an empath has its challenges.

According to Dr. Judith Orloff, author of The Empath’s Survival Guide, and Essential Tools for Empaths, when overwhelmed with stressful emotions, empaths might experience panic attacks, depression, chronic fatigue, and physical symptoms that defy traditional medical diagnosis; she writes.

“For empaths, this ability is both a gift and a curse. It can be hard because many empaths feel that they cannot “turn it off,” or it takes them years to develop ways to turn it down when needed. As a result, an empath can find themselves going from perfectly happy to overwhelmed with stress, anxiety, or other feelings simply because someone else walked into the room.”

Why Circles:

A Circle is a safe, solid, yet permeable space with an inside, an outside, and a focus that moves from person to person. A welcoming form where everyone can see each other and all voices are heard, it creates a field that invites sharing and story.

Circles for the Sensitive will follow the wisdom from The Circle Way written by pioneers Christina Baldwin and Ann Linnea who have revived this ancient practice of gathering in circles. Circles are a symbol of unity and connection; of protection; of ritual and devotion; of revolution and evolution.

Who these Circles are for:

If you identify as an empath (take Dr. Judith Orloff’s quiz) then these circles are created for you.

  • Come woman, man, non-specific gender
  • Come young (13+), old and in-between
  • Come Muslim, Jewish, Christian, Buddhist, Hindu, Agnostic
  • Come Blue, Black, Yellow, Purple, White, Poker dotted

Circle Time:

Our circle time will be centred around deepening our connection to our empathic gifts and, in the process, coming home to ourselves.

I have loved reading Diane Katherine’s, 7 Secrets of the Sensitive - Harness the Empath’s Hidden Power. Each word I read blessed me a deeper connection to my empathic gifts and gifted me with tools to live more peacefully. For the first time, I felt understood, validated and accepted just as I am. I came home to myself with love. I’d like to share this nurturing experience with you. The 7 Secrets of the Sensitive will be our main reference for our time together in circle.

In addition to exploring these magical secrets, you can expect poetry, craft, music, dance and other things to nurture your soul.  From time to time we will invite guests to share their expertise with us in areas that will enhance our sensitive gifts.

I highly recommend you attend as many circles as you can to get the most out of the experience. However, that may not always be practical.  If you miss out on one circle you can read all about it in the relevant chapter in Diane’s book or ask our community to share their learning with you.

What to Bring:

There will be chairs to sit on or you can bring a cushion to sit on the floor. Bring a water bottle and a small offering of vegetarian food to share in the break. If you are short on time a bag of nuts or another small offering is perfect.

Cost:

$20 per person + ticket fees

This will cover the cost of the room and contribute to a small portion of the time it takes to organise the circles. All specially invited guests who share their expertise with us will be paid for their attendance at our circles.
