Autism SA has a highly experienced and diverse training team which includes consultants, occupational therapists, speech pathologists and facilitators who have extensive experience in working with individuals on the autism spectrum in a range of settings.

Autism SA presents training that is hands-on, practical and engaging. The emphasis is on guiding participants through a range of activities to increase their knowledge, understanding and confidence in implementing relevant intervention strategies for their particular setting.

All participants will receive a certificate with the workshop title, the number of hours and will state that the training links to the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers (where appropriate).

This In Focus Workshop is designed for school leadership, co-ordinators, teachers and sector support staff who have a sound understanding of autism, and seek specific knowledge in how to effectively plan to support a student with autism, taking into acount their unique and complex needs.
An experienced Autism Consultant, Erica Handley, who has worked closely with the Department of Education, and Catholic Education to plan for individuals on the spectrum with high support needs, will present an intensive, interactive session covering:

• How to establish effective student teams;
• Processes on collecting and sharing information;
• Strength based planning;
• Goal setting and data collection;
• Future proofing; and
• Celebrating.

Throughout the workshop the presenter will use discussion, activities and videos to consolidate learning and can provide direct input into team planning.
