Event description

The Aboriginal Early Childhood Conference: Sparkling STEM

Date: Friday 26th and Saturday 27th June 2020

Science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) are ancient knowledge. Because we know that Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are the oldest living culture in the world, the sciences, technologies, engineering and maths knowledge and practices are the most developed and sophisticated on this planet. The Aboriginal Early Childhood Conference this year is festooned with an incredible line up of Aboriginal experts in STEM.

This year’s 2-day conference will feature a unique approach to make the experience of learning together with a complete experience. As each of the Aboriginal experts shares their knowledge and practices, conference delegates will simultaneously engage in a beautiful hands-on practical experience related to the STEM content area as a holistic approach to experiencing Aboriginal knowledge and practices. Be prepared to have all of your senses ignited and to be completely immersed in innovative contemporary approaches to sophisticated ancient knowledge and practices.

The presentations from across the Country will bring you:

  • Aboriginal approaches to brain research and neuroscience in community education
  • Ancient Aboriginal technologies in current everyday practice
