Suitable for first or second year HDR students. 

Prerequisite: completed Course 1Foundational Issues in Qualitative Research

This course provides students with fundamental knowledge of three common methods of data collection. Students will design and execute a research instrument appropriate for their research project, then write a short reflection report on the execution and appropriateness of their instrument. They will discuss the reports in the final week:

  • Week 1: Interview
  • Week 2: Focus Group
  • Week 3: Observations
  • Week 4: Documents and Documentary Data
  • Week 5: Report and Peer Review

Completion Certificate awarded for students attending at least three weeks and complete set activity.

Week 1: 21 May, 9.30 -12.30pm

Week 2: 28 May, 9.30 -12.30pm

Week 3: 4 June, 9.30 -12.30pm

Week 4:  11 June, 9.30 -12.30pm

Week 5: 18 June, 9.30-12.30pm

    If you fail to cancel your registration and are absent three or more times in a session, you will be suspended from the program for 1 year. You will be notified by email prior to your suspension being applied.

    How will I know the location for this event if it is not confirmed yet?

    You will be sent a reminder email approximately one week prior to the workshop. This will include the workshops location, date, time and anything you may need to know prior to the workshop.
