Event description

This one-day event presented by Inner City Legal Centre (ICLC), will focus on issues that will address diversity and inclusion in your practice. ICLC, along with partners Gilbert+Tobin, welcomes you to a continuing professional development (CPD) event that will help you understand how to work with diverse clients effectively.

By attending this training, you will learn how to:

  • work with LGBTIQ clients in legal proceedings;
  • identify barriers that LGBTIQ clients may experience in accessing services;
  • understand how to address these barriers;
  • review the impact that changes to the Marriage Act will have on same-sex couples and families;
  • understand surrogacy and same-sex parenting rights; and
  • interview diverse clients (there will be a 2 hour practical workshop on how to conduct an effective client interview).

All proceeds go to ICLC so that we can continue to provide free legal advice and LGBTIQ youth outreach programs. ICLC is a community legal centre based in Kings Cross. We have been providing free legal advice and support to vulnerable people in NSW, especially those who identify as LGBTIQ, for almost 38 years.
