How often as a HR professional do you need to show up and be brave when you know the outcome will be tough, and you can’t control what happens?

Probably… every. single. day.

I’ve worked in HR, Leadership, Culture and Change for almost 20 years, and I don’t think a day goes by that I don’t have to pull courage from the deepest parts of me, to walk into a room and have a conversation about tough stuff.

As a HR professional you need to be tough, you need to be brave, you need to be strong, AND you also need to be compassionate and empathetic. Sometimes it can feel like an impossible balancing act. Dr Brown's research shows us how we can reach that balance and improve the way we live and work.

The focus of DTL for HR is as follows and will be drawn out through the activities and discussion:

1. How HR people become true partners to daring leaders in the business, without legislating and judging.

2. How HR people balance coaching leaders in performance, innovation and courage, and be daring themselves.

3. How can HR set up (or change) the people systems so that they facilitate daring leadership.

4. What is the HR specific armour (ie profession based armour) and how can we remove it safely and still be respected within our profession and organisations.

5. How do HR challenge safety, diversity, inclusion and equity within the organisation without being the “compliance police”.

7. How do HR bring these skills to life within their business, beyond the HR team.

About the Dare to Lead™ program

Brené Brown is a research professor at the University of Houston where she holds the Huffington Foundation – Brené Brown Endowed Chair at The Graduate College of Social Work. She has spent the past two decades studying courage, vulnerability, shame, and empathy, and most recently completed a seven-year study on courageous leadership. She is the author of five #1 New York Times bestsellers.

FAQs

What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?

There are plenty of parking options around this area (but beware they fill up fast). The public transport options are excellent (tram is nearby). All else fails, there is always Uber. The entertainment centre car park is only $4 all day and a 5 minute walk.

What can I bring into the event?

You will receive a hardcopy workbook, so please bring a pen. A notebook is also useful to add anything that you don't want included in your workbook. Please no laptops or large tablets on the tables as they distract from the learning experience.

Also, please bring a jacket, cardigan or a wrap as it can get cold in conference rooms.

And most importantly - bring an open heart and a willing spirit... we're choosing courage over comfort in this program.

What's the refund policy?

Due to the challenges of organising events like these, we are not able offer a full refund once the program is booked. We will provide a 50% refund up to 2 weeks prior to the event. We can also allow you to transfer your ticket to another member of your team, community or family.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

No, as long as you've booked through Humanitix we'll have a copy of your registration.

Is my registration fee or ticket transferrable?

Yes, you can directly transfer to another person - please advise us who will be attending by contacting info@synergyiq.com.au.

Will I be able to run Dare to Lead™ training in my organisation after this training?

You will receive a certificate and a badge that certifies you as Dare to Lead™ Trained. This means you can use this skill set with your teams and colleagues. It does not authorise you to run Dare to Lead™ training for your organisation. Only a Certified DTL™ Facilitator is authorised to conduct this training.

Can you run this program for our whole team or organisation?

Absolutely! We would love to talk to you about how Dare to Lead™ has been the catalyst for many organisations to change the way they work together. We can run small or large group programs in house. Is there food?

We'll supply coffee/tea, waters and refreshments throughout the day. In all day events we will supply a simple lunch and will endeavour to cater for dietary requirements where we can. If you have a very strict diet it would be wise to bring your own snacks and food just in case.
