Welcome to BATTLE ROYALE, an art and live music night , themed as an adaption from the 1999 Japanese novel and 2000 dsytopian thriller film: バトル・ロワイアル ... We follow a class of students who find themselves suddenly removed from society by their teacher, stranded on an island, and forced to BATTLE ROYALE to the death!!
Your class have been chosen for their raw and powerful performances that will stick with you in life and death...Gambirra Mob bring us their amazing 10 piece show previously performed at festivals across Australia and they are in good company, there is savage self expression in abundance in the form of contemporary dance, storytelling, African and South American rhythms, soul
wrenching vocalists, beautiful instruments and live mixed visuals.

musical act: Gambirra MOB - 10 piece band arrangement
Magnetic Energetic and Full Power. GAMBIRRA MOB is a force that delivers a world fusion mix of psychedelic roots reggae, funk and dub. with social messages and tribal connections.
Hailing from N.E. Arnhemland, GAMBIRRA has a diverse musical background from Rock to the Orchestral.. Multi-generational and cultural with a wide appeal, they have graced stages such as the Woodford Folk Festival, Splendour in the Grass, Subsonic and the Sydney Opera House.
The MOB’s journey is about cultural bridging and planting inspiring seeds. A Passion for empowering female leaders, the band is fronted by 5 highly spirited female artists. Singing both in language and English to unite audiences sharing in “Connection to Country and Self”

Musician Rees Lucia x Contemporary dancer Viola Iida
Independent Contemporary dancer, Viola Iida and musician, Rees Lucia, combine their precise and elegant styles for a heart-stopping performance. For this night we ask them to be a different character to themselves, to channel the spirit of Mitsuko Souma from the film, a girl who is isolated, beautiful, and deadly. These two artists are a cut above the rest... but will that be enough to survive the night?

Multidiscplinary performance: ODOYA
A force to be reckoned with, these artists bring a mastery of movement, rhythm and expression of sounds out of BRAZIL! Honouring their Afro Latino ancestry, Maitê Inaê and Marina Da Silva present Odoyá a greeting to the Orixá, goddess of the ocean Iemanjá. A tribute to the hidden stories from west Africa to the indigenous Indians of Brazil. Into the depths of the Slave Quarters. Come along and experience the journey of story telling and spiritual manifestations of a History kept alive through the art of dance and song.

Lunar Sequencee performs her DEBUT VJ performance, bringing her powerful shots and edits to the floor. I have been so stoked to see these artists looking laser focused on the show coming up and for sure they're going to come through huge!!

Musician Violet x VJ JUUNE李 LEE
Violet's lyrics are grounded in reality, her voice is haunting and driven by raw emotion. Performing for her second time with VJ Juune李 Lee, this duo will represent those on the Battle Royale Island who refused to fight, and build shelter instead. Juune李 has put together an amazing stage installation of TV JUNK to projection map and accompany Violet's ethereal BOXES/HOUSES Set.
