Delivering Smart Products - How to create commercially robust designs and manufacturing solutions for connected devices
Event description
It’s easy to build a proof-of-concept for a smart device using cheap tools like Raspberry Pie and cookbook solutions. However, the leap to a scalable commercial design ready for deployment in multiple legal jurisdictions around the world is a big hurdle for startups and enterprises alike.
Most people developing their first smart product don’t appreciate the principles of human-centred design, creating embedded electronics that comply with the myriad of regulations, software engineering principles for robust software and apps, and manufacturing printed circuit boards at volume cost-effectively.
This seminar is an opportunity for product developers to understand the practicalities of how to design and manufacture a smart device, ready for global distribution. We cover all the practical steps required to go from concept to a production-ready prototype. The event includes a site tour of state-of-the-art surface-mount electronics manufacturing facilities.
Presenters are sourced from three different companies:
- Genesys Electronics Design specialises in the development of smart electronic devices leveraging Internet of Things technologies.
- Circuitwise Electronics Manufacturing is a contract provider of printed circuit board assembly services and turnkey product assembly.
- Design+Industry is an industrial design and product development consultancy, with deep skills in human-centred design.
