Event description

Effective strategies to support a person with autism:

General Professional Development Workshop

This is a General Workshop for professionals who work with people on the autism spectrum and are keen to learn about a broad range of effective strategies. It is recommended that participants first attend ‘Understanding autism’ to get the most out of this session, unless they have a prior sound knowledge of autism.

This workshop helps participants learn how to use a range of social, communication, behavioural and sensory strategies to support individuals on the spectrum. Strategies are practical, relevant and evidence based.

Throughout the workshop the presenter will use discussion, activities, videos and lived experiences to deliver information that will enhance the participant’s knowledge of strategies, that are suitable for use in a range of environments for individuals of any age.

All participants will receive a certificate with the workshop title, the number of hours and will state that the training links to the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers (where appropriate).

Autism SA is pleased to announce that all workshops are being run as live online webinars in place of face to face workshops.

As each scheduled workshop approaches, registered participants will receive all the training materials required for that workshop, including a PDF of the PowerPoint. Participants will need a computer with internet access to join the webinar, but will not be required to download any software. Prior to the workshop participants will receive step-by-step instructions on how to access the webinar they have registered for.
