Event description

Get your science-loving kids out of the house these holidays to find out all about light, sound, movement, energy changes, air pressure and more using hands-on science toys and child-friendly experiments. Our science educator will demonstrate how to sit on a chair of nails and shoot fog rings across the room... and the kids will get to make gooey slime, giant bubbles & more!

Children should wear old clothes and bring a hat, sunscreen, water bottle and snack (no peanuts).

Age: Grades 1 to 6
Bookings essential

This program can be paired with the morning Wet & Wonderful Science workshop to make a full day of fun! Fizzics Education will provide a supervised lunch break (BYO lunch) from 12 noon to 1 pm and will transition your child to the afternoon activity.

This program is presented by Fizzics Education as part of the Sydney Olympic Park Kids in the Park program. Check out our other awesome holiday workshops on offer at Sydney Olympic Park!

Frequently Asked Questions

What to bring to our holiday science programs

  • Morning tea, lunch & afternoon tea as required. Don't rely on a shop being nearby.
  • A hat
  • A water bottle
  • Wear old clothes
  • Any medications (your child must be able to self-medicate)
  • NB: No peanuts allowed on-site

EpiPens

We take anaphylaxis seriously. Any child that requires an EpiPen must bring a minimum of one EpiPen on the day in association with the ASCIA Guidelines. Please give all the information about the allergic condition to our presenters. For the safety of your child, we cannot have them on-site without their prescribed EpiPen.

Sign in & Out

  • A Parent or Guardian is required to sign the child in upon arrival and then sign them out when picking them up after the workshop.
  • An emergency contact number is needed, as well as the name and phone number of the person picking up your child.
  • Please arrive on time for the program commencement and conclusion.

Where is the program being held?

The Education Centre is located within Bicentennial Park in Sydney Olympic Park. To get there, enter the park via the Australia Avenue gates and follow the signs around to the P10F carpark (it is almost at the park exit). Once you reach P10F, you’ll see signs to the Education Centre! If you’re arriving by train, Concord West train station is closer to the venue than Olympic Park train station.

My child is too young, can they attend with their older sibling?

No, unfortunately. The minimum age of each program is set to ensure that children attending have the mathematical and problem-solving skills to successfully program the robots and keep up with the pace of the program. Younger children tend to fall behind and can end up frustrated which can have an impact on the rest of the class.
