Event description

We've been overwhelmed with interest for this exciting event and we are now ALL SOLD OUT. But we are definitely keen to host the event again in 2020 so please email bronte@sparkfestival.co to go on the announcements list for the next event.

====================================

Spark Festival - Australia's largest event for startups, innovators and entrepreneurs - this year features a very special event for high school students.

Find My Spark is an immersive and intensive day of experiential learning for year 9 and 10 students, focussing on building entrepreneurial skills and mindset in students across the full range of subjects.

We invite you to bring along a group of up to 20 students for what will be a one of a kind opportunity to connect with and learn directly from young entrepreneurs, people who are already solving problems and building future-facing Australian businesses.

We'd like to emphasise that this is a day for students across the full range of talents, interests and subjects: we believe that entrepreneurial skills and mindset will be helpful no matter what future careers a young person follows.

Avoid disappointment and register your group now as space is limited and this event will sell out.

What's the program for the day?

The Find My Spark program is a one day introduction to entrepreneurship designed to:

  • Instill a positive, problem-solving entrepreneurial mindset through role-modeling
  • Introduce the skills needed to turn an idea into a startup business
  • Demonstrate how entrepreneurship can be applied across a wide range of disciplines and interests
  • Empower students to explore entrepreneurial pathways as they enter their final years of high school and consider options for tertiary education
  • Inspire more young Australians to think big and follow their business dream if that is their calling

The full day program will pack in 3 interactive workshops. In each of these workshops, lead by a Design Thinking Facilitator, the students will practice entrepreneurial skills and mindset through activities which explore the actual business of a young local entrepreneur, who will co-facilitate the workshop. The entrepreneurs and their businesses will cover a broad range of sectors and interests, so there will be opportunity for the students to experience entrepreneurial thinking in 3 very different contexts.

Additionally, during the lunch break the students will have the opportunity to engage with local startups who will showcase some of the technology they’re working on.

Which students should I bring?

Please bring along any students you feel could benefit from a day of learning about entrepreneurship and how it can be applied to any career path they might choose. The designers, the artists, the scientists, the writers, the creatives, the dancers, the musicians, the computer whizzes, the social scientists and the kids who want to save the world. Find My Spark has been designed to show that entrepreneurship is a set of skills and a mindset that can be applied to solve problems in any discipline.
