The Freedom Hub, is delighted to invite you to our annual VIP event

Unravelling Slavery An evening with our Freedom Hub Ambassador, Grace Forrest (Walk Free Foundation) and other guests to unravel slavery and celebrate our collective efforts to address this important global human rights issue.

 

We promise an evening of entertainment, with performances from the formidable Peter Cousens, delectable food and delicious wine in the surrounds of our stunning Freedom Hub Venue in Waterloo. View an exhibition of photos taken by Grace from all around the world and watch our live artist create something special. There will be a chance to purchase Grace’s artwork displayed in her exhibition, along with other art pieces from our Survivor School in our live auction, plus tons of prizes to win in our legendary raffle.

All funds raised will contribute to Freedom Hub’s ongoing work rehabilitating victims of slavery and fighting to end this awful crime.

GRACE FORREST

Grace Forrest - AbolitionistGrace Forrest is a founding director of the Walk Free Foundation, an international human rights group with an objective to end modern slavery. Underpinned by research, the Walk Free Foundation uses direct engagement with business, government, faiths and grass roots intervention to drive systems change from the top down and ground up. 

Grace has spent extensive time working in South East Asia and the Middle East, using photography and storytelling to share the stories of survivors ofmodern slavery, witha current focus on refugee communities. She regularly represents the Walk Free Foundation at international forums, including recent events at the Vatican and United Nations. 

Grace is a director of the Minderoo Foundation, recently joined the board of the Centre for Humanitarian Dialogue and previously worked at the Legatum Institute as a research analyst on global people movement. 

In 2018, Grace was awarded Nomi Network’s Abolitionist award for her work to end modern slavery, and was appointed The United Nations Association of Australia’s Goodwill Ambassador for Anti-Slavery.

 

PETER COUSENS

Peter Cousens, a graduate of the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA), is an actor, singer, producer, director, teacher and film director.

He isthe only Australian to play the Phantom in the Phantom of the Opera on London's West End which he did for 11 months in 1997/98. He has starred alongside Russell Crowe in Blood Brothers, the late Richard Harris in Camelot and has had an extensive career playing major roles in musicals throughout Australia, New Zealand and England.

Peter is an ambassador for the White Ribbon campaign - making violence agains women a thing of the past and an ambassador for Destiny Rescue.
