Special '2040' Screening for Melbourne Climate Strikers
Date and Time
School Strike 4 Climate, the Australian Youth Climate Coalition, SEED
- the Indigenous Youth Climate Network, and the producers of '2040',
invite you to register for a free and special, pedal-powered cinema
screening of '2040' after the Global Climate Strike on
Friday the 20th of September.
To celebrate youth leadership on climate action, this special event
is for student strikers and their supporters from the wider
Melbourne community participating in the strikes.
We invite you to make your way to the Meat Market in North Melbourne
after the rally, where we will be continuing on the activities in the
spirit of the day. There will be music, food, a pedal-powered
screening of 2040, and a post-film panel discussion and audience
Q&A with Director Damon Gameau, representatives from the
Student Strike 4 Climate movement, Intrepid Travel,
City of Melbourne and other special guests.
Come along to debrief the day, celebrate collective action on climate,
hear from the organisers of the student strikes, and explore what is
next for the movement and how we can all work together to
realise a better and brighter 2040.
This event wouldn't be possible without the generous support of our partners and we would like to thank them for helping us make this event a reality.

2040 is a hybrid feature documentary that looks to the future, but is vitally important NOW! Award-winning director Damon Gameau (That Sugar Film) embarks on journey to explore what the future could look like by the year 2040 if we simply embraced the best solutions already available to us to improve our planet and shifted them rapidly into the mainstream. Structured as a visual letter to his 4-year-old daughter, Damon blends traditional documentary with dramatised sequences and high-end visual effects to create a vision board of how these solutions could regenerate the world for future generations.
Important information: By booking to this event your contact details will be added to the 2040 mailing list. We will only send you useful information to do with the event or Regeneration campaign and you will be able to opt out.
