Good Business Leadership and the Climate Crisis

Climate change is undoubtedly the defining issue of our time. We are facing unprecedented, interconnected and rapidly escalating environmental challenges. If we do not urgently change course, we risk missing our chance to avoid runaway climate change, with disastrous consequences for people and all the natural systems that sustain all life on earth.
However, there is still time to get the world back on track. We believe business will play a critical role in enabling the transition that is so clearly needed to transform the economic system that has lead to the climate emergency. Within business we will find the necessary capital, the knowledge, the ingenuity, the networks, the technology and the courage to make this happen — what we need now is leadership.
The B Corporation movement has always been about leadership. Certified B Corporations signed a Declaration of Interdependence stating the belief "That all business ought to be conducted as if people and place mattered. . . . and thus we are responsible for each other and future generations." How can we respond to the threat of climate change?
At this session, Mindy Leow from B Lab will lead a short presentation on the latest climate change science from Al Gore's Climate Reality Project, followed by a discussion on opportunities for B Corps and the wider business community to step up and take lead.
