Event description

Introducing GoodGathering - Purpose Amid A Pandemic, brought to you by the Good Business Community that is GoodNorth

The purpose of this event is to inspire, uplift and activate the impact driven business community. We want to help you get to know the other awesome people in the community, to make connections and find potential collaborations. A mouthful! But oh-so-deliciously-chewy right?

All this goodness stems from you finding your shared purpose.

Purpose Amid A Pandemic

Our first in-person event since COVID restrictions and we have put together an awesome one for you.

Join us in #Brisbane for a night of in-real-life purposeful mingling and panel discussion.

We have four amazing speakers to help us answer this question (and more):

How do purposeful professionals see the role of purpose in business, amid a pandemic?

Danielle Duell - Founder & CEO | People with Purpose

Danielle is a business leader, purpose-led strategist and entrepreneur. Her economic philosophy is “for profit and for the greater good” and her vision is for shared value creation to become the dominant mindset of business leaders around the world within her lifetime.

Throughout her career, Danielle has worked across numerous industries. Danielle co-founded Riverlife Adventure and Function Centre and Riverlife Mirrabooka aboriginal experience. Prior to winning an Executive Education scholarship to Harvard Business School, Danielle completed an MBA at QUT with concentrations in Strategy and Entrepreneurship. Danielle then worked as inaugural CEO of the Spicers Group of retreats, restaurants, day spas, cattle farms, nature refuges and outdoor adventures.

She is the founder and Chair of Australian Harvard Women and an Adjunct Professor at the University of Queensland where she teaches in the MBA program.

Danielle’s primary business role is Founder and CEO of Certified B Corp - People With Purpose - a consulting and leadership development company that helps other businesses become sustainably competitive and impactful by developing purpose-led strategies and purposeful leaders.

Yasmin Grigaliunas - CEO & Co-Founder | World’s Biggest Garage Sale

Yasmin an impact entrepreneur and circular economy pioneer in Australia, driving this industry forward by innovating, collaborating, connecting and mobilising multiple stakeholders towards a shared vision, all while providing social good.

Yas is an inaugural SheEO Australian Venture, a RiverPitch finalist on national television and most recently was named winner of the Innovation award for ‘Brand of the Year’ by Queensland’s Chief Entrepreneur Leanne Kemp.

Yas has been described as a “one-percenter”, one of those people with a natural capacity and passion only matched by her energy for entrepreneurship.

Energetic, authentic and an expert of execution, Yas is a master at enrolling talent, communicating long-term vision, and inspiring people along the journey. Yas and her organisation are living proof that you can provide a positive impact for people, planet and profit for purpose.

Timothy O'Brien - Founder | Hatched

Timothy is one of Australia’s foremost thinkers on purpose-driven strategy and impact measurement.

Tim has worked in strategy, innovation, product development, business model design, measurement and evaluation, and has now turned his attention firmly towards purpose-driven business.

Inspired by the B Corp movement, Tim left his corporate career to set up Hatched, a strategic agency that embeds impact through purpose-driven strategy and an outcomes-based approach to impact measurement.

Tim is the founder of two businesses: Hatched, a strategic agency, and Rooy, an impact measurement technology platform.

Tim believes the way to create change is through building and transforming businesses to have greater impact. Through Hatched, Tim helps businesses articulate why they exist, and strategically designs their businesses to do good. Through Rooy, Tim and his team have streamlined the process of ensuring and measuring impact.

Troy Casey - Director | Blaklash Creative

Event MC - Luke Faccini - Founder | The Sponge and Co-founder of GoodNorth

Luke is founder of The Sponge, a branding agency that specialises in helping the next generation of businesses rebrand with purpose. He was born and raised in Sydney, and now lives in Brisbane.

Since starting his professional brand design journey in 1999, he has helped thousands of people put their brands on the map. He foolheartedly started his own business right out of college and has learned what it takes to grow a business.

While beginning as a trained graphic designer, the entrepreneurial leap took him on a path of transformation. He experienced firsthand the impact that purpose and values have in business, and the connection to brand story.

Having had a purpose moment that transformed his outlook on business, The Sponge obtained B Corp certification in Jan 2017. Luke is a firm believer that business can and should be a force for good. His purpose is to “Help Good Businesses Become Better Brands.” By all means necessary! Including a book, online program, and helping to grow the GoodNorth community.

The GoodGathering High Frequency Vibe

Our events are a-buzz with just the right kind of vibe. We are a high-frequency community of amazing, conscious people who are working to make the world the better place we want it to be. If you are picking up what we are putting down, then you gotta come!

It is a GoodGathering. Not a networking event. We pose a different question. Not “What do you do?” rather “What are you passionate about?” Or “What lights you up?”

It’s the way we see what is in each other's heart, our purpose.

This is how it will go

To help you get started, everyone writes their passion, what lights them up, on their nametag. So think about what it is you're passionate about beforehand. And at the event, see how many people you can meet with an aligned purpose.

We'll hear from from Torrens University, our host for the event, on a study they have conducted, an initiative they are running and a collaborative impact initiative they've done with a fellow GoodNorth member. This will be followed by the Purpose Amid A Pandemic panel and Q&A. Then, purposeful mingling.

Included in your ticket are drinks (Beer, Wine, and Non-Alcoholic Beverages), light food and the GoodGathering.
