The AI for Good Challenge (aiforgood.com.au) is a national program run in 2019 by Education Changemakers and sponsored by Microsoft that is designed to help Australian high school students learn about AI, understand the ethics behind the technology and innovate AI concepts that could make a difference for the Earth, Accessibility or Humanitarian Action.

We have a comprehensive package of teacher resources on the AI for Good website for teachers to run their own classes in school, and beyond this are also hackathon days in Term 2, 2019 in the capital cities of every Australian state and territory.

The hackathon is designed for teachers and students who have engaged with Module 1 and Module 2 of the AI for Good Challenge (aiforgood.com.au) learning resources. We will be bringing part of Module 3 and all of Module 4 live to you at the hackathon so your teams have the opportunity to complete and submit your AI for Good Challenge solutions on the day!

On the hackathon days high school teachers and students will:

- Learn about AI as a technology (one of the most important advances for humanity for generations!).

- Engage with the ethics of AI (so students can have agency in technology that they use, and also technology that they will build in their future careers!).

- Innovate AI concepts, with the opportunity to also submit these on the day to the final AI for Good Challenge.

- Be trained in design-thinking by the award-winning Education Changemakers team.

The hackathon is free to attend, food and drinks are put on, and you can be assured they are highly informative, engaging and fun! It is sure to be a great day of PD for teachers and a brilliant learning experience for students.

Please only sign up if you are able to make it, as tickets are limited. Also rather than bringing your entire class, please just bring a few students and staff if possible, so that plenty of schools/groups (hackathon squads) can be part of the days! Ideally 15 students and 1 teacher per squad.
