This event has passed Get tickets

Event description

The Hut's last blockbuster gig of 2019 reflects the essence of OKA & CHAIKA - a celebration of all that it is to be alive and free in the world today.

Gracing the Hut stage for the first time in four years, OKA's famous signature sound is an irresistible blend of influences spanning house, big-beat, reggae-dub, roots, jazz and world music - a mash up of dance & downtempo electro beats marinated in the mystical spirit of the Dreamtime.
CHAIKA's latest album ARROW has been ARIA nominated for Best World Music Album 2019. Recorded and produced by ARIA award-winning team Bob Scott and Llew Kiek, Chaika's vast influences create superb genre-blending music that transcends labels.

“Ear to the ground, listen to our sound…a positive soul vibration.” DidgeriSTU

“This is Chaika at their best." Timber and Steel

ABOUT OKA

The OKA collective includes captivating melody on guitar, sax, flute & woodwinds, woven through organic juju beats of deep tribal fire.

At the creative heart of the music is Stu Boga Fergie (aka didgeriStu) - the big man behind the electronic beats, keys and vocals. Inspired by his aboriginal heritage, he connects you to earth with the deep, subsonic pulse, and resonance of his Yidaki (didgeridoo).

OKA has shared the stage with the likes of Arrested Development, Finley Quay and Xavier Rudd, shared the bill with Santana, Sting, KISS, Yothu Yindi, Burning Spear, Damian Marley and the Wailers and shone at festivals across the globe, spanning Australia, Europe, USA, Hawaii, Canada, Japan, Indonesia (and counting), sending unsuspecting crowds into hypnotic frenzies, gaining them a strong reputation as standout performers.
