International Women's Day is a very significant day in the calendar and we'd like to invite you to join us for lunch to celebrate the occasion at The Establishment Ballroom on Friday, 8 March 2019. 

Also joining us is a panel of very special guests who promise a lively conversation about the importance of equality and empowering women to achieve economic independence - which is the mission of Dress for Success, the recipient of all profit generated from the event.

DR KERRYN PHELPS AM MP
Independent Member for Wentworth

Dr Kerryn Phelps AM is the Independent Member for the federal seat of Wentworth, doctor, health & civil rights advocate, past president of the Australian Medical Association, City of Sydney Councillor, author and mother of three.

Dr Phelps was the first woman to be elected to the seat of Wentworth in October 2018 at a by-election following the resignation of Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull, running on a centre-right platform best described as economically conservative and socially progressive.

Since entering the federal parliament, Dr Phelps has played a leading role as an advocate for removing asylum seeker children off Nauru, promoting the need for urgent action on climate change and pushing for no changes to superannuation rules for five years to provide investment certainty for community members either in or approaching retirement.

More broadly, Dr Phelps has been at the forefront of the struggle for LGBTQI inclusion and equality for two decades, with marriage equality finally achieved in December 2017, as well as the health columnist for the Australian Women’s Weekly for 25 years and author of six health books including a textbook of general practice.

A popular local GP in Sydney’s Eastern suburbs who has founded and operated several multidisciplinary medical practices, as AMA President Dr Phelps was well-known for working with the then-Howard Government to solve the looming medical indemnity crisis and establishing report cards for asylum seeker and indigenous health.

Dr Phelps is a Conjoint Professor at the National Institute of Complementary Medicine at Western Sydney University, an Ambassador for Barnardo’s and the Pinnacle Foundation and a Patron of ACON’s Pride in Health+Wellbeing program and “Wear It Purple”, supporting LGBTQI youth.

ANN SHERRY AO
Chairman - Carnival Australia

Ann is one of Australia's leading business executives with a career that spans Government, Banking and Cruise Tourism.

She is currently the Chairman of Carnival Australia, the largest cruise ship operator in Australasia and a division of Carnival Corporation & Plc. After joining as Chief Executive Officer in 2007, she has transformed the industry and growth has been in double digits each year since.

Ann is the Chair of UNICEF Australia, a Council Member of Philanthropy Australia and currently holds non-executive roles with National Australia Bank, Sydney Airport, Palladium Group, Rugby Australia, Cape York Partnerships, Museum of Contemporary Art Australia and Infrastructure Victoria.

The Australian Government awarded Ann the Centenary Medal in 2001 and in 2004 she was awarded an Order of Australia. In 2015, Ann was named as the overall winner of the Australian Financial Review 100 Women of Influence Award.

Ann devotes considerable energy to her passion for women’s rights (currently as convenor of the MCC STEM group), supporting opportunity for Indigenous communities, personal philanthropy and support of the arts.

JUSTIN GREINER
CEO - JBWere

Justin was appointed CEO of JBWere in February 2014. JBWere is a leading private wealth management and investment firm in Australia and New Zealand, providing a wide range of investment, advisory and philanthropic services. JBWere has more than $60b in Funds Under Advice and has over 500 employees.

Prior to joining JBWere, Justin was General Manager, Transformation for ANZ Wealth. He also held positions as the Head of Advisory and the Head of NSW for ANZ Private Bank.

Justin holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Harvard Business School and a Bachelor of Accounting from the University of Technology, Sydney.

Justin is Chairman of the Thomas Kelly Youth Foundation and a Director of the
Financial Industry Community Aid Program (FICAP). He was previously the President of the Harvard Club of Australia.
