Hey B’s!

Have you been wanting to start your own fashion label but are feeling overwhelmed with all the nitty-gritty details of getting a pattern made, finding a factory and handling mass production? Do you keep getting hit with high minimum order quantities and horror stories of manufacturing off-shore? You are not alone! We get tonnes of questions related to this topic on the Facebook group so we decided it was time to bring the discussion to IRL

Harnessing the amazing talent we have in our group three B’s will be sharing their own experiences with fashion manufacturing. We aimed to make the panel diverse so that you get to hear different perspectives from people at different stages in the journey.

PANEL MEMBERS:

  • Amber is the Head of Product at Showpo, one of Australia's leading online womens fashion stores. She started at Showpo as a Buyer and then moved into product development where she led the creation of Showpo’s own designs and manufacturing. Some of Amber’s more recent achievements include the launch of Showpo All Sizes campaign and Showpo Bridal.
  • Sasha is the co-founder and co-director of Beachluxe, Australia’s leading destination for boutique designer swimwear and beach accessories. After launching Beach Luxe in September last year, Sasha & her business partner have been able to expand their offering by launching their own line of beach accessories.
  • Amanda Louise is the General Manager of OOC Apparel and Founder of The Crawford Co. She began her fashion career manufacturing and distributing for some of the World’s most coveted brands including Revolve, Bloomingdales and David Jones. She now works with all levels of retailers to establish ethical and sustainable manufacturing locally and off-shore.

The panel will be moderated by Elyse from Exodus Wear. She started Exodus Wear at 21 with no fashion, design, manufacturing or business experience and likes to think she holds the record for making pretty much every mistake you can make when it comes to manufacturing. She will be able to share all of her missteps and advice on how you can avoid them on your own journey.

We have an amazing opportunity for attendees so make sure you secure your place ASAP. Crystal from HKTDC and fellow LMBDW member is going to be sharing some information about how HKTDC may be able to sponsor you to attend their Hong Kong Fashion Week (Spring/Summer) show in Hong Kong from the 8th to 11th of July. There are a range of sponsorship options that Crystal will explain and provide application details for on the night. For a business just starting up the extra help can make a huge difference.

We’ll get straight to business with the panel starting at 6pm and aiming to conclude around 7pm so that will give you an hour to enjoy some of the food and wine kindly sponsored by the Hong Kong Trade and Development Centre.

If you have any dietary requirement, drop a comment on the Facebook event page. We will have multiple options available including vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free.

For any interstate B’s interested in this topic but can’t make the event we will be live streaming the event on the Facebook page so don’t forget to set a reminder so you can watch it live as we will be taking questions from the livestream.

Are you a female small business owner, entrepreneur or business women. If so, connect with us on the LMBDW Facebook Group which has over 100,000 like minded women all ready to support you on your journey!
