This event has passed Get tickets

Event description

The Banksia Project is focused on mental wellness and early intervention in mental health. Program Director, Jack Jones will share practical tips on managing your mental health and share resources on leading a more balanced, happier life.

About the Speaker

Jack has spent all of his working life in the health system. Whilst studying an Undergraduate Degree in Health Science and a Masters Degree in Health Service Management, Jack held various roles in hospitals and a medical practice. He has always had a passion for helping others and social justice, with his previous employment involving mentoring Indigenous youth in both urban and remote communities.

Jack was a well-educated, elite-sportsman who was diagnosed with major depressive disorder and suicidality in 2013. Some tough years, self-reflection and growth made Jack realise that if he had all of this support and still didn’t know how to manage his emotions safely, how many other people were in the same boat. For the last three years, Jack has been involved in setting up and developing The Banksia Project, becoming its first paid employee. Jack says: “It’s a privilege to be able to help other men gain positive mental health daily and call it work.”
