Event description

Over the last three years, Dovetail has helped Afterpay grow from a startup to an ASX-listed company valued at $8.5 billion. The products they’ve built have grown to service over 5 million customers every month in four international markets. Dovetail has learned a lot about rapid large scale growth in the process and wants to share some of those lessons. Expect to walk away from this lunchtime talk with insights across product, design, development and sales learned from the journey of building the fastest-growing public company in Australian history.

Key Takeaways

  • The importance of product focus
  • How to adapt technology to keep up with rapid growth
  • How to design an app that millions of people love to use

About the Speakers

Nick Frandsen is one of the founders and managing partners at Dovetail, a product development agency that has a proven track record for turning ideas into commercially successful digital products that millions of people love to use. Prior to founding Dovetail, Nick was the co-founder and CTO of 1-Night, a VC backed ticketing and events company, and led the engineering team that grew the platform to handle millions of transactions. 1-Night was eventually acquired by TicketDirect, New Zealand’s largest ticketing company, after which Nick spent a few years in his home country of Denmark consulting to a range of companies such as Thomson Reuters and Geico.

Fab Mackojc is the Regional Lead at Dovetail and helps companies of all sizes bring innovative digital products to life. After getting his start in the tech industry working for Airtasker in 2012, Fab moved to Silicon Valley and ended up spending two years working as a software engineer for Groupon in San Francisco. He later returned to Australia to focus on his own projects: co-founding a SaaS company, a digital marketing agency and embarking on an eCommerce venture. During this time he continued to advise startups on product development and worked as a freelance web developer building software for clients such as PwC, Afterpay and the New Zealand Government.
