MakeShift: Creativity on Prescription 8 week course

This event has passed Get tickets

Event description

This 8 week course is for people wanting to explore creative practices as a mode of self care and self-management of symptoms and impacts of mental health challenges.

Whether you have a formal diagnoses of PTSD, anxiety, depression, or whether you experience impacts of these from time to time, this course promotes the capacity of each and every person to strengthen the muscle of creativity as part of recovery.

Creative practices explored in the program include drawing and painting, ceramics, writing, music, cooking, gardening and nature.

Each week, we invite a creative artist or practitioner to gently show us their practice. We trial and test what works for us, with reflection on how it makes us feel, whether it changes or shifts any feelings of anxiety, depression or unease, and we also explore how to create these activities as a regular self care practice.

MakeShift: Creativity on Prescription is not a traditional support group, however it is a safe, confidential group experience and we do facilitate self-reflection and participation.

Course facilitators are Caitlin Marshall and Lizzie Rose. This course and its content has been reviewed and approved by a reference group that includes a GP, Psychological and Researcher in the field of Medicine and Health.
