Event description

Dear Practitioner,

Following up on our two well-received Australian Snow Sports Medicine Conferences held in Jindabyne we would like to invite you to our first ever Japanese Edition Conference in Hakuba!

It is open to all Sports Medicine practitioners and there will be presentations from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on all three evening’s. Included in your registration will be:

  • Apres-ski nibble platters and refreshments
  • An all-inclusive premium food and beverage cocktail party to close the event
  • Our own private transportation every morning of the conference to go to a resort in the valley of our choosing as a group
  • 10% Group discount on accommodation at the Shakespeare Hotel

With a research trip last year I visited the entire Valley (and many of the resorts ; ) and have sourced a great venue in a central and hip area of the Hakuba Valley:  The Shakespeare Hotel in Echoland

The presentations will be held in the Yoga Studio and, while seating will be provided, delegates are welcome to bring their yoga mats and foam rollers to have a stretch while taking in the presentations.

Presentation Topics and Presenters are as follows:

DRY NEEDLING KNOWLEDGE WITH THEORY
Marty McCullock (Osteopath) from CPD Health Courses will present on the theory of dry needling with a review of the current evidence. There will also be a live demonstration

A PRACTICAL OVERVIEW OF ESWT/RSWT AS AN ADJUNCT THERAPY
Charlotte Bodell of Bodell Podiatry will be speaking on the subject of radial shockwave therapy and how varying the amount of bar pressure, through patient biofeedback, can increases the therapeutic value of the outcome. This in turn increases patient compliance in completing the required number of treatments as per the protocol used in the evidence, which can also lead to greater patient satisfaction. This has also been her conclusion based on empirical evidence conducted in her practice.

Charlotte will also explain how using RSWT may vary according to location and extent of injury and how it fits in as adjunct therapy in the treatment plan for various lower limb indications. In which a combination of RSWT, gait retraining, exercises, footwear and orthoses may be prescribed. There will also be a device on site to allow for a practical component where all participants will be able to receive and conduct a treatment.

PHYSICAL CONSIDERATIONS AND TRAINING FOR THE WINTER SPORT ATHLETE
Kate MacDermid (Physiotherapist) from Altitude Physiotherapy Hakuba will explore the physical capabilities, differing demands and capacities of the winter-sport athlete. (Interactive session, please dress appropriately)

RE ACCOMMODATION
10% Group Discount on accommodation was provided by the Shakespeare Hotel however the hotel is now fully booked during this time however there are numerous options available in the Hakuba Valley.

If you have any further questions please get in touch and hopefully see you all in Japan!!!

Kind Regards,
Roland
