Event description

The AI for Good Challenge Hackathon

The Microsoft AI for Good Challenge is back! 2019 saw thousands of students taking part, with almost 600 team submissions, and so many brilliant ideas making it thought to the state and national finals.

In 2020 we are back with an even more exciting challenge, with a whole new set of curriculum aligned lesson plans for teachers as well as one day hackathons. Teachers have a choice in running their own hackathon in one day, teaching the four modules during four class periods, or attending an EC facilitated hackathon event, where EC facilitators will be traveling across the country to help your students submit their best possible ideas.

The hackathon is designed for your students to do the entire challenge in one day. Across the hackathon, students will cover all curriculum aligned modules, including, tips on how to pick an issue, what AI is, and what cognitive services are used, ethical considerations for AI inventors, and all the details to submit their project, then and there.

The Microsoft AI for Good Challenge (aiforgood.com.au) is a national program run in 2020 by Education Changemakers and sponsored by Microsoft that is designed to help Australian high school students learn about AI, understand the ethics behind the technology and innovate AI concepts that could make a difference for the Earth, Accessibility, Humanitarian Action or Cultural Heritage.

By taking part in the AI for Good challenge, your students will future proof themselves, that little bit more, by learning about what we think is one of the most important technologies in the world right now.

The hackathon is free to attend, food and drinks are put on, and you can be assured they are highly informative, engaging and fun! It is sure to be a great day of PD for teachers and a brilliant learning experience for students. Please only sign up if you are able to make it, as tickets are limited.
