Leadership Keynote and Networking - October Event - Modern Slavery: Uncovered

This event has passed Get tickets

Event description

For the October member keynote and leadership networking, we will be covering the topic of Modern Slavery.

Modern slavery is an umbrella term that includes the crimes of human trafficking, slavery and slavery like practices such as servitude, forced labour, forced or servile marriage, the sale and exploitation of children, organ trafficking and debt bondage.

An estimated 15,000 people are enslaved in Australia according to the 2018 Global Slavery Index.

We all purchase products and services made by people who are being exploited or enslaved including children – it’s in our clothes, food, buildings, electronics - this means each of us has an opportunity and responsibility to our brothers and sisters in slavery to act for their freedom.  How many slaves work for you?

Because of Australia’s Modern Slavery Act, 2018; businesses with an annual turnover of $100 million are now required to take steps to address modern slavery in their supply chains and report publicly on the effectiveness of their efforts

It does not just effect the big fish though, it also effects the supply chain of the supply chain (confusing right!).
So where do we start? How do we comply? What are the real costs to your business and the lives of the people affected?

Join us for our October keynote event and we will break it all down in a supportive, feel good and inspirational environment with keynote speakers and thought leadership from experts in the industry.

Live music, food and drinks will also follow the event.

All profits from this event will go to The Australian Freedom Fund to support victims of slavery across Australia.

This keynote will help your business if:

You sell to larger businesses/entities or Corporates who now need an ethical supply chain to report against

Your business is focussed on human rights and is against the exploitation of people.

You do not understand or know where to start with the Modern Slavery Act

You want to be on the National Public register that lists ethical businesses who have submitted a Modern Slavery Statement.
