For one weekend only: WILD LIFE Sydney Zoo hosts dedicated tours focusing on threatened species in celebration of National Threatened Species Day

Saturday 7th September marks National Threatened Species Day in Australia and to mark the occasion, Darling Harbour’s WILD LIFE Sydney Zoo is hosting a series of intimate tours on Saturday 7th September and Sunday 8th September.

The tours will be run by two keepers and will take guests on a journey that focuses on the threatened species within the zoo. Each guest will also receive a gift bag and tips to discover how people can help protect the future of threatened and endangered species in Australia.

The 90 minute tours are the perfect weekend activity for animal and conservation lovers or anyone keen to learn more about how they can help protect the threatened species in Australia.

Learn all about Bub and Topsy, the Tasmanian Devils
Find Jackie & Zoey, the Zoo’s Platypus pals, swimming in Platypus Pools
Learn about Shiny and Opal - two Bilbies that are part of a breeding program designed to help save the species
Feed the deadliest bird in the world - Princess, the Cassowary within the Daintree exhibit
Understand the importance of Green Tree Frogs in the eco-system
Meet cute Koalas on Koala Rooftop and snap an up-close selfie

Guests will also get the chance to meet Kangaroos in Kangaroo Walk-About and the opportunity to venture into the restricted access territory amongst the daring world of Kakadu Gorge, where they’ll come eye-to-eye with Rocky, the huge Saltwater Crocodile, and much more!

Priced at $99 per person, $10 from each ticket sale will go towards the WILD LIFE Conservation Fund.

The tours will run exclusively on the weekend of 7th and 8th September at 10am and 2pm at WILD LIFE Sydney Zoo in Darling Harbour. Each tour has a maximum capacity of 10 people.

Australia is home to more than 500,000 animal and plant species, many of which are found nowhere else in the world. Over the last 200 years, more than 100 animal and plant species have become extinct.

In NSW alone there are close to 1000 animal and plant species at risk of extinction.

National Threatened Species Day (7th September) is a day that we turn the spotlight on native plants, animals, and ecosystems that are under threat and reflect on how we can protect them into the future.

The day also celebrates the amazing work that is being done to save them by passionate conservationists, researchers, volunteers, and community experts.
