New Gen Roundtable (feat. MK Tamar Zandberg) – Melbourne

This event has passed Get tickets

Event description

Due to the ongoing political situation in Israel the date of this event has changed. Unfortunately, Tamar has to return to Israel earlier than planned. The event will now take place on Saturday 30 November at the same venue, JAHM. If you have a ticket and can no longer make it, please email sharon@nif.org.au for a refund.

For the first time, New Gen supporters of human rights and social justice in Israel will come together to brainstorm, workshop and discuss the future of liberal democracy in Israel. And we’ll be doing it with a special guest: Meretz MK Tamar Zandberg.

Join New Gen (20s & 30s) supporters of NIF for a deep dive into Israeli democracy and politics and workshops on how to shape the Jewish community’s conversation about Israel.

The Roundtable’s keynote session will be delivered by Democratic Union Knesset member Tamar Zandberg. She will lead a discussion on Israel’s future. A former academic, Zandberg was a leader of the 2011’s social justice protests of 2011 and a member of Tel Aviv’s city council before entering the Knesset for the Meretz party in 2013 and going on to lead the party from 2018 - 2019.

NIF’s Naomi Chazan Alumni will run an interactive session focusing on critical issues facing Israeli democracy, including people seeking asylum, shared society between Jewish and Arab Israelis, human rights work in the occupied Palestinian territories, and more.

NIF Australia executive director Liam Getreu will also run a workshop titled “How to Have a Persuasive and Productive Conversation about Israel”.

Included in the Roundtable is lunch, private access to the magnificent Justin Art House Museum for the day and entry to the public event featuring MK Tamar Zandberg on Thursday 28 November.
