ORCID at UTS : Research support staff capability building
Event description
ORCID has been integrated with Symplectic since 2015. The majority of academics have ORCIDs linked in Symplectic to automatically claim publications. In 2020, we now have a new integration which sends data from Symplectic to ORCID. This will be particularly useful for the HASS disciplines because it will easily capture all of a researchers work not previously indexed through other sources.
ORCID is owned by researchers which is great – but it also means for privacy reasons researchers need to authorise the new integration themselves. It’s an easy task, but it can get complicated and researchers may not see its value yet. This is where professional support staff come in…
In the session - designed specifically for Professional Research Support staff by Scott McWhirter and Catherine McElhone - we will:
- Demonstrate the new capability, highlighting the benefits to drastically reduce Research Output collation
- Discuss the Australian Access Federation ORCID aspirations
- Show how ORCID fits in the ID space – i.e. link to Scopus etc.
- Answer questions*
At the end of this session you will:
- Understand the capabilities of ORCIDs and how it fits in with your role supporting researchers.
- Improved base knowledge to support researchers for grant applications and improving online profiles using ORCID.
- Understand why using ORCID is important and valuable to UTS and our research.
* please note, this session will be recorded
