OzHarvest Family Kitchen Workshop - April

This event has passed Get tickets

Event description

Go behind the scenes of OzHarvest’s internationally acclaimed food rescue model and get the inside scoop from our chefs! Bring the family for your chance to learn from the best in the business at this hands on, fun and scrumptious cooking lesson led by OzHarvest chefs.

This workshop is designed to teach basic cooking skills to children and highlight the environmental and social benefit of loving all sorts of food! It will also give your family an opportunity to learn something new together. Carers will be grouped with their own children for a fun family experience.

Children aged 8-12 are welcome, accompanied by their parent or carer.

After a welcome and video briefing, you will be put to work creating gourmet dishes using sustainable practices, with the goal of transforming fresh excess produce into tasty and nutritious meals. Your creations will feed vulnerable people in Sydney who otherwise would not know where their next healthy meal could come from.

Using rescued ingredients means the possibilities are endless and our chefs will create the menu on the day, so you're in for a surprise! Think aromatic curries, Asian cuisine, hand made pastas and vegetarian tips and tricks!

Your ticket includes:

  • Small group cooking lesson, held in professionally equipped kitchens.
  • Access to OzHarvest’s National headquarters – great photo ops!
  • Time at the end of the class to sample the various dishes for yourself, of course.
  • The chance to package your amazing meal creations ready for OzHarvest drivers to deliver to families suffering food insecurity. The opportunity to write messages for meal recipients.
  • Access to the new downloadable OzHarvest Recipe booklet. This is an awesome resource for continuing your journey towards a sustainable food culture at home. You'll be able to share the recipes with friends and reach new culinary heights!
  • Access to highly skilled sustainability chefs who can answer all your questions about home cooking and how OzHarvest is tackling waste to continue Nourishing our Country.
  • Meet and chat with some incredible members of the Yellow Army; OzHarvest's regular volunteer base and most powerful resource of energy, skills, generosity and all 'round good vibes.

All donations help OzHarvest to continue delivering quality meals to vulnerable people around Australia, and support our community education programs.
