Event description

Regional Jobs, Population and Migration in Queensland

Regional Australia is changing, and with this transformation comes boundless opportunities to rethink what regional Australian means. Change is also bringing many challenges for our regions with population growth and jobs high on the agenda in Queensland.

Regions Rising QLD is part of the RAI’s national roadshow where we use our evidence based research to present the facts, we bring key regional stakeholders together, and we work to change the narrative of regional Australia.

POPULATION GROWTH – ARE WE READY?

The Regional Australia Institute (RAI) is looking forward to sharing its latest work – Population Growth – Are we ready? – at Regions Rising QLD. This new body of work raises serious questions about the type of future Australia has if predicted population growth continues as projected in the outer suburbs of Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth.

Regions Rising QLD puts our regional towns and cities in the picture. We know regions are ready to grow – lets be ambitious.

Join us in Brisbane on 9 October and be part of the conversation about the future of regional Queensland, where Minister for State Development, Manufacturing, Infrastructure and Planning, The Hon. Cameron Dick will be the keynote speaker and share his vision for regional QLD.

With more than 13,300 jobs vacant right now in regional Queensland, we’ll provide you with the latest on the RAI’s Regional Migration Initiative and our new regional migration toolkit – Steps to Settlement Success.

You can expect to hear from local regional leaders about how they are addressing their workforce issues and collectively putting into action population solutions for the future.
