Event description

Did you know that 25% of deaths on NSW roads are the result of driving for work? That was approximately 87 deaths in 2018.

Almost 30% of workplace fatalities are people driving for work, and this needs to change.

As part of Small Business Month 2019, Transport for NSW will be out on the road engaging with local employers and starting a conversation about embedding road safety in your workplace through free breakfast seminars.

This session will detail how you, as an employer, can effectively establish a road safety culture to ensure your workers get around safely whilst travelling for work.

What you will learn about:

  • Your duty of care to your workers and the legislation under which SafeWork NSW operates
  • The benefits to you for embedding road safely within your workplace
  • What you can do to embed road safety within your organisation through engagement, developing a policy and instilling behavioural awareness
  • How to manage road safety risks through real-life examples
  • Both conventional and creative ways of engaging your workers on road safety
  • Vehicle safety assist technologies
  • A brief insight into local road trauma from a local employer (TBA)
  • Contributing factors to crashes with the information provided by Transport for NSW Western Region Road User Safety team
  • Resources available to you

You will also receive:

  • A USB containing resources to help you embed road safely in your workplace
  • Industry relevant merchandise such as key rings, posters and fact sheets to display on site, and a copy of the presentation
  • An opportunity after the seminar to inspect Transport for NSW’s road safety research vehicle (SAFET1), with such features as fatigue management devices and advanced safety assist technology

This is a great opportunity for you or a representative from your organisation attend to receive a better understanding of keeping your workers safe while travelling on NSW roads.
