Event description

The Stand Up Unconference is a weekend-long residential event being held from 23-25 August at Apex Camp Twin Waters on the Sunshine Coast.

A collaborative weekend for doers and changemakers who want to build a collective vision for social enterprise in Queensland.

This Unconference will bring together a hugely diverse group to share, learn, laugh and magnify our impact. Titles aren’t important. Hierarchy isn’t important. Engaging with and inspiring one another is what this event is all about.

What is an Unconference, and how is it different to a regular conference?

The idea behind an unconference is to provide a creative and collaborative space for attendees to share and learn with each other. The Unconference isn’t about a keynote and it’s not about panels. The Unconference recognises the knowledge and experience of the attendees, and provides the space for that knowledge and experience to be shared.

Participants determine the topics and ideas that they want to share and discuss. It is a dynamic weekend of workshopping and connecting with the wider Queensland social enterprise community. Unconferences create new connections, and deepen existing relationships, amidst a buzz of excitement and creativity.

The agenda will be developed on the first night by the attendeesaligning with the theme of Navigating the Future of Social Enterprise in Queensland.

How to participate

You can pitch your session idea on the opening night to present to other participants, contribute and collaborate during sessions or you can simply sit back and soak up all the goodness.

What will I get out of it?

The Stand Up Unconference is a unique opportunity to meet with other “Navigators” face to face to learn from each other, and develop ideas around the future of the social enterprise sector in Queensland. This is your chance to share your insights and knowledge, make new connections and have your voice heard.

Despite many challenges, the power of the social enterprise sector lies in how we collaborate for good. The Stand Up Unconference will provide us all with an opportunity to learn from each other and strengthen connections to help solve the problems we’re working on. By finding synergy in our collective contributions we can begin to create meaningful structural change.
