STEM Accelerator Wollongong December 11
Event description
STEM Rapid Upskill!
Designed from real classroom experiences, this interactive day dives deep into STEM with collaborative discussions on how to implement project-based learning and embed the scientific method throughout. Highly interactive & design-thinking focussed... creativity is celebrated here!
- Suitable for all Stage 3, 4, 5 & 6 teachers
- Bookings essential
- Can't make this date? We're in Shellharbour on December 12 and the Southern Highlands on December 13 too!
This program is presented by Associate Professor Michael Kasumovic, founder of Arludo and ARC Future Fellow @UNSW, and Ben Newsome, Churchill Fellow & Founder of Fizzics Education.
Both of the following modules will happen during the day:
Module 1: Using mobile devices to turn students into scientists
Presented by Arludo
This course focuses on enhancing teacher understanding surrounding hypothesis testing, experimental design, and statistical analysis while providing teachers with specific content knowledge associated with the NSW Syllabus.
Teachers will learn to use three different mobile applications created by Arludo to engage students in scientific inquiry and will gain an understanding of how to encourage students to think scientifically and mathematically. Teachers will also learn how to moderate the difficulty for students of any grade and level. Participants will leave with all the digital and physical resources needed to successfully implement this course in their classroom.
Module 2: STEM ideation
Presented by Fizzics Education
We've all heard of the acronym STEM... so what does that really mean in practice? We'll look at rapidly co-creating STEM lessons & projects that will make a meaningful difference for your students. The program will be highly collaborative and fast-paced, where you'll gain ideas from teachers in both primary and high school in a design-thinking environment. Importantly, time is spent looking at how to realistically implement these ideas using the tools, budgets and resources you have at hand. We'll create a PLN to share resources & ideas as a plan for 2020. Curious about how this works? Read more here:
NESA

EpiPens
We take anaphylaxis seriously. Anyone that requires an EpiPen must bring a minimum of 1 on the day in association with the ASCIA Guidelines. Please also give all information of the allergic condition to our presenters.
It says ‘sold out’… can I squeeze in?
Sorry, it’d be awesome if we could but we simply would have too many people on site. Please contact our office on 02 9674 2191 or email on info@fizzicseducation.com.au and let us know that you'd like another day organised!
Refunds
We will provide a full refund only if the event is rescheduled or cancelled. We cannot refund tickets, but name changes on tickets are acceptable. Fizzics reserves the right to review all requests for refunds on a discretionary basis.
