Strange Signals closes out 2019 with the return of one of our favourites, Wata Igarashi! Needing no explanation to anyone who witnessed him blow the floor apart in his first tour here in 2018, he returns now as an artist at full height of his powers.

Wata's deeply psychedelic techno sets have made him a hero at home in Japan, made him one of techno's busiest DJ's and given him major headlining slots around the world. The list since his trip here in 2018 is long. Japan's Labyrinth festival, Berghain, Tresor, Mexico, Colombia, Detroit, NYC..

These performances have been accompanied by a salvo of blisteringly colourful and psychedelic techno bombs on labels such as Midgar, Bitta, and The Bunker NYC, as well as contributions to releases on Peter Van Hoesen's Time To Express and Svreca's Semantica.

VINI MARTINS

We couldn't think of a better artist to support Wata than Vini Martins. Really.

Vini's music is loudly coloured by the colour, intensity and mystery of his homeland Brazil. His style is fluid; deep and dark, twisting like jungle vines into spiraling psychedelia, locking you into a persistent groove that compels you to dance to the beating heart of his country.

Since arriving in Sydney, Vini’s sound has resonated with many dancefloors where he’s found himself a regular with both new and long established collectives such as .darkroom, Trench and Strange Signals.
