Event description

General Family Workshops are presented in a group that aims to develop the participants’ understanding relating to the autism spectrum. Presented by experienced professionals from across different teams within the organisation, and with individuals on the autism spectrum,  participants will develop a greater understanding of many topics through interactive, engaging and practical workshops. For free sessions, participants must either be autistic or be a partner or a family member of someone on the spectrum.

In Focus Family Workshops are unique workshops presented to small groups of participants by relevant therapists, which allows for specific questions and scenarios to be discussed. Sessions focus on a specific topic and aim to develop the participants’ knowledge and understanding of that topic, and provide participants with tailored strategies that can be used, and relevant to the participants’ setting.

NDIS funding may be used to access these workshops. Please register online and complete all additional questions regarding your, or your child/ren’s/family members, NDIS plan.

The Autism SA team will follow up if any additional information is required.

Mental health issues are often significant for autistic individuals and well-being and resilience play a vital role in reducing and minimising mental health issues. Resilience refers to the ability to recover from a disappointment, and well-being encompasses one’s happiness, health and welfare. This session looks at:

  • Well-being and resilience in relation to characteristics of autism;
  • Impact this can have on a person; and
  • Supports and strategies to improve well-being and resilience.

Throughout the workshop the presenter will use discussion, activities and videos to deliver information on these topics that will enhance the attendee’s knowledge of supporting well-being and resilience for people that are autistic, and enable them to provide effective support to their child on the spectrum.
