For this, the fourth and final event in our 2019 series, we're thrilled to bring you an incredibly inspiring talk from Dr Catriona Wallace, CEO of Flamingo ai, followed by an intimate panel Q&A where Catriona will be joined by two accomplished leaders in technology from our local landscape.

Dr Catriona Wallace shares her story of being a leader of an Artificial Intelligence company in the US and Australia, being in Financial Services, seeking investment funding in a predominately male market and being one of the few women leading a Listed technology company whilst raising 5 children. Catriona, using humour and real-life examples, will share her experiences and unconventional ways of navigating difficult environments in order to be successful.

Dr Catriona Wallace is the Founder and CEO of Artificial Intelligence FinTech and ASX Listed company (ASX:FGO) Flamingo Ai, provider of Machine Learning based Cognitive Virtual Assistant and FAQ & Knowledge Retrieval technologies. Flamingo Ai is the second only woman led (CEO & Chair) business ever to list on the Australian Stock Exchange.

Catriona has a PhD in Organisational Behaviour: Human Technology Interaction and is a well published author and commentator. She is one of the world’s most cited experts on the Future of Customer Experience, Artificial Intelligence and Bot Strategy.

Based in NYC and Sydney, Catriona has been recognised by the Australian Financial Review as the Most Influential Woman in Business & Entrepreneurship; she achieved Advance Australia’s highest award in Technology & Innovation for Australians working abroad and recently won the FinTech Leader and Overall Excellence in Finance award by Women in Finance. Catriona has been named among the Top 9 Female Entrepreneurs by the Sydney Morning Herald and Top 30 Women redefining business by Womens’ Agenda.

Catriona is also a philanthropist, human rights activist and mother of five.

Dr Sarah Dods is the Head of Data Science at Arq Group, with expertise in ‘deep-tech’ innovation, leading science, technology and innovation teams, and Australia’s emerging Digital Economy. She specialises in aligning and translating between business and technology perspectives.

Sarah is a maven, technologist and innovation business leader, with a deep passion for realising economic and social value from technology advances; bridging the gap between invention, market opportunities, and implementable solutions to create value that makes a difference. She is a fan of life-long learning, a driver of diversity, and an incurable optimist.

Sarah has a BSc(hons) in Physics and a PhD in Communications Engineering, both from the University of Melbourne. She has 3 patents and 70 refereed publications to her name and is a graduate member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Adrienne is co-founder of Brainmates, a Product Leader and Chief Mischief Officer, just as well-known for her hair colour as her considerable expertise in Product Management. This pocket rocket has been in Product since 2000, working alongside brands such as Lend Lease, Foxtel, Eftpos, Telstra, Xero, Core Logic, Standards Australia, eBay, Disney, NITV, Kennards and many more. Adrienne set off on an adventure in 2004. Inspired by Tom Peters, she left her full-time Product role to start Brainmates, Australia’s first Product Management training and consultancy business. Adrienne says Brainmates personifies everything she loves in life.

Emma Founded Project F at the start of 2019, as a social impact business to improve gender balance in technology teams & leadership. Her career in talent acquisition, management and strategy spans more than 25 years across global markets. Originally from London, Emma’s career has seen her live and work in the UK, US and for the last eight years, Australia. Emma’s career has centred on the IT&T sector and since arriving in Sydney in 2011, digital technology.

Emma is driven by purpose and she is an unapologetic, albeit accidental, feminist. She's on a mission to change the world of tech with her gender balance accreditation program, Program 50/50

After scaling fast-growth SaaS company Ansarada as Global Head of Talent, Emma founded talent strategy consultancy Future Of Work and not-for-profit tech community Men Championing Change before embarking on her new venture Project F.
