Event description

The problems in the world can sometimes seem so big, that they make us feel powerless. With that powerlessness comes the likelihood that we won't take action. So, what if instead of seeing a problem or a disaster, we saw an exciting opportunity and challenge and brought all of our enthusiasm and creativity to it? When we do this, our beautiful human brains are wired to create solutions and see possibility. We can then organise ourselves to create change on a personal level, in groups, in large communities and indeed the world. It's exciting for Alexx Stewart to be spending time with the IGS community to see some of the challenges we face in the world, such as the plastic pollution epidemic, and work live during the session to come up with some ideas and possibilities on meeting those challenges and effecting real change on an individual and community level, whatever our age, stage or qualification.

The way we've always done things does not need to be the way we continue to do things, so in coming up with solutions during the workshop, we will identify design that no longer serves us, products that do more harm than good because of their end life, how to design for the future and the power of circular thinking, and what we can do on a personal and in a school community context to create ripples of change in our daily actions.
