Event description

In a world where high tech is taking over there seems to be a movement that is turning a hand at old-world crafts, and creating disruption through the innovative thought via traditional methods.

Urbanistas SYD is brings together three pioneering female business leaders to talk about their stories and crafts as part of our Sharing Stories Series and aim to amplify the voice of women.

The Butcher: Suzy Spoon grew up in a family that owned and operated an abattoir and one of Sydney's largest butchers – to becoming the first person to open Sydney’s first ever vegetarian butcher business. Hear about her struggles and successes as she faced backlash not only from butchers but from vegetarians as well.

The Baker: Nadine Ingram is the powerhouse behind Woolloomooloo bakery Flour and Stone. From her childhood making cakes and slices with her grandparents in rural NSW to a hard few years in Michelin-starred restaurants in London and eventually to Sydney. Hear how the power of cake can connect and heal people

The Candlestick Maker: Leonie O’Brien is the founder of Pretty Frank candles. Leonie started her business in 2016 when making candles for family and friends expanded into online and she started sharing her creations with the world.
